"Turdblossom" - authentication?

According to a number of sources including Wikipedia and web pages at numerous print journals, G W Bush uses the nickname “Turdblossom” for Karl Rove (as well as “Boy Genius”). Some references say this was because Rove started attracting fame for having put Bush in the Whitehouse, and Bush disliked Rove getting star attention.

But, a search at whitehouse.gov fails to turn up any hits (which would have been surprising but high-quality proof the nickname is real). Also, a search of this forum found no postings with “Turdblossom” in the title within the last year. That is, if I did it right - the search was so fast as to arouse suspiscion.

Can anyone speak to the authenticity of Bush using this nickname for Rove? Has he done it in a public way, or is he only said to have done it in private? Has Rove himself campaigned for a new nickname? Or, most evil of all, could the whole thing have been his idea in the first place???

I don’t have a direct cite from Bush’s mouth, but most bios of Bush and Rove mention it. Here’s a Google Book Search.

I always thought Bush meant that Rove could take shit and come up roses - a blossom rising from a turd.
