Turkey Chili

So I’m not much of a cook. Basically, I can burn toast. I do, however, love a good turkey chili (not too spicy). Now that I am a bachelor again I’d like to make myself some turkey chili so that I have an easy meal for a few days. I have a crock pot (i think). It’s a metal urn-like thing with a power chord, a dial and a lid. I’m guessing that’s what it is.

So, any suggestions? I’d like to head out to the store and work off my hang over this afternoon by making myself some turkey chili. Cheers.

Oh and I have tried epicurious but the recipies don’t look that appealing.

As a second-time bachelor myself, and fan of turkey chili, I make it a lot. In fact, there’s some in my crock pot as we speak.

A quick and easy one I got from Men’s Health magazine several years ago. 1 lb ground turkey, 1 can diced tomatoes with chilies, 1 can black beans (drain & rinse), 1 can sweet corn (drain), 1 package of chili or taco mix, 1/4 c water. Brown the turkey, drain the fat (if the turkey isn’t lean), throw everything else in, and simmer for about 10 minutes.

You can throw other seasonings in if you want, but just buying a package of chili mix makes it very easy.

If you’re making turkey chili in a crock pot, I’ve found it better to brown the turkey first.

The one I’m cooking right now is from Weight Watchers (for men). It’s 2 lb ground turkey, 1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, 2 cans white beans, and 2 cans chicken broth. Brown the turkey with the onion & garlic, drain fat, and put in the crock pot. Seasoning is cumin, oregano, chili powder, cilantro, and a couple of tablepoons of lime juice.
