Yesterday we watched a 2022 Turkish RomCom Love Tactics. (Innocuous time waster.). What struck me as curious was what I perceived as “censorship” choices. The lead characters are very attractive. The women were often clad in quite revealing outfits that show a lot of cleavage, and tight micro miniskirts. One guy goes shirtless. Characters drink A LOT, kiss, and extramarital sex is an ongoing theme.
But in one instance where the woman removed her top, she had on a ridiculously large bra - that covered up more than some of her shirts. And she didn’t remove her skirt. They never showed her navel, or her bottom in a swimsuit/panties/or leggings.
I was wondering if anyone had any insight into what laws/customs would influence these choices. A little research suggests Turkey has some strict censorship laws. There was no smoking in this film. But they did kiss and drink. I found it odd that the women’s clothing would be so revealing in some respects, but not in others. Anyone have any idea what would influence that?
