Turkish man paraglides on his sofa over ocean while watching TV

Occasionally, important news fails to make the front page, so this needs shared. Not only did he paraglide on his sofa while watching TV, he was tuned to Tom and Jerry and eating Doritos at the time. Truly a man of taste, who deserves our respect.

We need a “genuflecting” emoji.

He’s a paragliding instructor, so he has some experience with this. That may explain why he’s so relaxed during the stunt, but I wonder how much was bravado? Was he secretly terrified? (I mean, he didn’t seem to be belted in or anything.)

I suspect that “backpack” on the sofa to his right is a parachute…

Who says all the wild and crazy guys are in Australia? Looks like Corinthian leather also.

On one level it’s hella cool.

On another level, nothing looks secured, not even the pilot. You’re only one turbulence bump away from surprise skydiving. :astonished:

In the video, I think he takes stuff out of the backpack, so I don’t think there’s room for a parachute. It probably wouldn’t do him much good in an emergency to have an unattached chute next to him, anyway.

I wondered if there’s some hidden belt harness behind him, attaching him to the couch, but I don’t see any indication that there might be.

Maybe chain mail under his clothes and a powerful electromagnet inside the couch.

For some reason, that lamp is just killing me.

He’s cool; I’d hang out with him.
