O.K. so maybe this a General Question but it is pretty pointless and mundane, so here goes…
I am a 32 year old smoker who still habitually turns a lucky when I open a new pack of cigarettes. I know I am a freak for doing so but I do it none the less. It occurred to me this morning as I stood out in the early morning freeze packing my smokes against my open palm to ask the teeming millions who smoke if they still indulge in this juvenile practice. So do you? And what is the way in which you do? And why? I count out the letters in my girlfriend’s name and turn the appropriate cigarette starting at bottom left. Seven letters in her name, turn seventh cigarette from bottom left. I think I started this practice as early as I started smoking…I am not sure why or how. I guess it was a middle school/ early highschool thing because that is when I started smoking. Strange that I don’t remember how I started and even stranger that I have forgotten why I do it…guess it must be the tar in my brains.
For the non-smokers who I know will ask; packing is tapping the pack of new smokes against a hard surface to condense the tobacco in the cigarette so as to allow for an even burn.
