After the death of Bea Benaderet early in season six, the lyrics were rewritten in order to replace her character name (‘Kate’) with ‘Joe’ in the line “It is run by Kate, come and be her guest”, and to include a reference to “the lady MD” (Dr. Janet Craig, played by June Lockhart).

After Gilligan (Bob Denver) pitched a fit on behalf of Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells, the penultimate line was changed so as to mention their characters by name instead of merely being lumped together as “and the rest”.

I consider it a great show, with excellent writing and actors, but the tone and language wouldn’t fly today. It’s surprising it did, back then.
