Before the show aired some of the pre-publicity indicated that the doctor would be called “Doc Zimmerman” after the first couple of episodes, and on the early shows the crew talked about some names for him, including Zimmerman (who was one of his programmers), but the idea was dropped and he was never actually called anything other than “The Doctor” onscreen.
In the final episode (set in the future) he finally decided on the name Joe.

One was a regualr, one was a reoccuring guest on the same show. Not including last names for fear that it’ll be too easy but if no one gets it, Ill add some clues.
“Cheers”
Hilary Norman “Norm” Peterson
Guy “Eddie” LeBec

How about … Patricia Reichardt? (Not originally from TV but the character has appeared on it.)
Peppermint Patty of “Peanuts” fame (there was a “bonus baby” named Rick Reichardt who played baseball for the California Angels, and I assume his surname was the inspiration for hers)
How about Dennis Price?
Eustache Dauger

Donald Shoenstein
That would be Boone, rounding out the three from Animal House
Marcel Brown

Hint: the previous three are often seen in the company of private investigators.
