Would you have liked it if they had all been released on good behavior or something.
I wanted a better ending for Beecher at least.
Perfect:
Sopranos - communicated Tony’s inevitable fall in a way that was unexpected, thought-provoking and frustrating.
The Shield - brutal, sad and oddly hopeful.
Sex Feet Under - in retrospect, was there any other way to end this series?
Breaking Bad - I’m just staking my claim now. I think this series will have one of the great endings.
Awful:
LOST - Sorry. The entire mythology of the island comes down to “it was magic.” They didn’t have to wrap up everything neatly, but huge parts of the story were just abandoned.
Underrated:
St. Elsewhere - clever, inspired, and foreshadowed for some time before the show ended.
Cheers - the final moments of the series were just right. The characters smoking cigars and chatting, followed by Sam closing up the bar, with a quick tribute to Coach. Fitting and unpretentious.
Overrated:
Freaking Newhart - it was a funny joke. Nicely done. But it doesn’t deserve its #1 perch on everyone’s “Best Finale” list.
No one’s mentioned Star Trek Enterprise yet?
The whole thing was cast as an episode of TNG with Riker and Troi… really unsatisfying.
