TV Show DVD suggestions, please

Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job
Twelve Oz Mouse
Metalocalypse
Venture Brothers
Paranoia Agent

I should note that I suspect you won’t like these, Klif. ;)*

But you said note down shows we think you should watch. So that’s what I did.

Also, everybody else already took all the other ones I would have said.

Ask about movies next.

*You might like that last one.

The first season of Murder One (1995-96) gets my vote for Best TV Show Evah. It’s a single story arc over the whole season – has Stanley Tucci (first role I ever saw him in) as a rather creepy billionaire; Patricia Clarkson as the supportive wife of the main character, a lawyer played by Daniel Benzali, who’s worked steadily, but not particularly stellarly, since. Plus Dylan Baker, Gregory Itzin, and, oddly enough, Vanessa Williams.

I work alone in a shop that I own*. When I’m in the back room making what I sell in the front room I also pass that solitary time by watching TV. It’s hard to make suggestions without knowing what you like. Here are some I’ve watched recently.

CSI
CSI:NY
Bones
How I Met Your Mother
Barney Miller
Army Wives
Psych
Homicide: Life on the Streets
Two Fat Ladies
24

*I just mention that so people understand that it’s alright with the boss that I watch TV.

Six Feet Under
Sportsdesk
Sopranos
Deadwood
Lost

The ones I’ve watched more than once:

The Wire
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel
Deadwood
American Gothic
Supernatural
Freaks and Geeks
The Civil War (Ken Burns)
Firefly

Do you like period/costume drama series at all? If so, I’d recommend:

North and South (the one set in England, not the one about the Civil War)
The Forsyte Saga
The Pallisers
Bleak House

you are correct, K. I couldn’t stand the three quoted here.

I’m kind of afraid to, given the massive amount of amazing shows here, I’ve got plenty to run through!

Oh, but that’s the point!

WHOA WHOA WHOA.

THAT’S how Veronica Mars ends?

KLIF ANGRY. KLIF SMASH.

WTF

Without a doubt, watch “The Shield”.

LOST will be complete on DVD this August.

–Cliffy

Mystery Science Theatre 3000
Doctor Who
Benny Hill
The Red Skelton Show
Laugh-In
Gunsmoke (should provide you with lots to watch, as it is one of the longest running shows)
China Beach

Knead guessing Klif did not read footnote to post 11.

I’ve been going through all 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1 on DVD lately. Perhaps not a show that will be accorded a top spot in the annals of TV history, but I really enjoy it. And when I get done, I can go through 5 seasons of Stargate Atlantis.

The Highlander
The Practice
Six Feet Under
Nip/Tuck (until they moved to LA from Miami then it got sucky)
The 4400***
House MD
The Closer
Medium
Ghost Whisperer
As Time Goes By
Dead Like Me***
Kyle XY***
Ugly Betty
Damages
The Prisoner (from the late 1960’s)
Bones
McLeod’s Daughters (women run a ranch in Australia)
#1 Ladies Detective Agency (a woman starts a detective agency in Africa)
Monarch of the Glen
Wonderfalls

Just about anything on USA network. All are current:
Burn Notice
Royal Pains
In Plain Sight
White Collar

***Canceled after a few seasons so the storyline never wrapped up properly. Too bad.

You try to warn a guy…:smack:

I’m currently working my way though watching:
Bones
Criminal Minds

Others I liked that haven’t been mentioned yet:
Northern Exposure
Monk
Last couple of season of both aren’t nearly as good as the earlier episodes though.

Oh, what about something like Quantum Leap? A show you don’t necessarily have to watch in order since there isn’t much continuation.

Some that haven’t been mentioned:

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Futurama
How I Met Your Mother
The Office (both US and UK)

And a note: Dead Like Me actually did conclude via a straight-to-DVD movie (that wasn’t very good, but it’s still closure).

Thanks! I’ll look for it.

Get Smart
Coupling
The Young Ones
Father Ted
UFO
On The Air

The Twilight Zone
Combat!
Hawaii Five-0
'Allo 'Allo
Goodnight Sweetheart

I’d recommend Dexter.
