TV Shows Only You Remember

that ended up on the disney channel here in the us…and baby blues ened up being on the original adult swim…

Yeah, “Baby Blues” (animated version) was noticeably bluer than the newspaper cartoon.

One I can’t find anywhere is “Nightmare Café”(1992), starring Robert Englund, Jack Coleman and Lindsay Frost.
It was a fantasy/adventure series about people who have been killed who are condemned/blessed to help others, and their base was a café run by a mysterious creep called “Blackie”.

Speaking of shows based on comic strips, who remembers the animated Dilbert series that aired circa 2000?

And there was very briefly a cartoon on PBS based on Car Talk. That didn’t last long at all.

I vaguely do. I seem to recall thinking the reveal of the young guy as her internet associate was maybe a change in tone to try to boost ratings, but I could be mistaken, since it’s been an age. I did watch all the episodes, though.

I also remember Roar existing, but not really the show. I’m caught between thinking I thought someone on the show was cute and thinking I only watched a couples episodes, but I’m just not sure.

I remember watching The Charmings, but I was kid in the original run, and never watched it since. I don’t know if I stopped watching because my parents did or because it ended.

Powerless was with the Abed from Community right? I really liked that show too.

And Alan Tudyk - and Ron Funches!

Baby Blues reminds me of an NBC sitcom called The Mommies. It was based on the comedy act of Marilyn Kentz and Caryl Kristensen, real-life best friends and suburban mothers. IIRC there were a lot of fights between the creators and NBC about what the show should actually be about (much like the battle between Margaret Cho and ABC over All-American Girl) In any case, what ended up on the air was neither particularly funny nor memorable.

I do. It was nothing like the strip. It had been saturated in the Hollywood machine, who thought it would lead to merchandising and greeting cards, so they played up to that. It totally missed the point of Adams’s workplace absurdity, and apparently he was content to collect what money he could from the experience.

I used to love to watch Pow Wow the Indian Boy. Don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who remembers it.

I think I watched two episodes and gave up. Miserable.

I remember the theme, but I don’t remember anything else about it. Maybe I only got as far as the theme then switched to one of the 6 other choices I had.

I’ve seen it but didn’t realize it was a TV series. Or was it?

On The Net, Tim Curry played the voice of the Sorcerer (Angela’s on line helper and benefactor in her conflict with the Preatorians) for the first nine episodes. Then the Sorcerer was exposed and it turned out to be a teenage computer whiz played by Eric Szmanda (who would go on to appear in CSI a year later). I think it was a ploy to shake things up and appeal to younger viewers, but it would have been good for Tim Curry to surface and play a darker Sorcerer. In addition to Dwayne Johnson, an unknown Jeremy Renner also appeared on one of the final episodes of The Net as well.

I only know the theme song because there’s an SCTV sketch with Eugene Levy as Lorne Greene where he sings it.

The Unusuals, a squad of detectives who are… unusual. Amber Tamblyn and Jeremy Renner were the two leads and I thought it had a great premise. It lasted 10 episodes and then was cancelled.

Ha ha you had it good with 6!

Maybe I used the term series too loosely but it came on at a set time.

For those unfamiliar:

Is that the one where the main character was sort of a steampunk-ish scientist/inventor and solved crimes using his scientific knowledge? I loved that show as a kid.

Yes. I see at least some are available on YouTube.

Yeah, I grew up in NY and before UHF we had 2 (CBS) 4 NBC, 5 (Ind., with Soupy Sales), 7 (ABC), 9, RKO, 11 (WPIX, the TV station of the Daily News) and 13, which later became PBS. The indy stations had either kid shows or movies. I had almost a better movie choice then for free than there is today, helped by the NY Times mini-reviews: Land of the Pharaohs - It sphinx.
