West Wing started out great then fizzled out, with Season 6 being the low point. The did somewhat redeem themselves in the last season with the election but it never got back that spark.
Alias. Too many loose ends conveniently tied up in what seemed like an extremely rushed final few episodes.
I think Newradio gets a pass. Everyone knew it wouldn’t be the same show after Phil Hartman died, but IIRC, there were still contractual obligations to fill out. There was no intention to keep it going after that.
I thought it was hilarious! The video of her eating the fake display fruit, and Michael explaining “that doesn’t mean anything! Fake fruit can be very convincing…oh no, is she going for more?” and George-Michael sadly saying “yeah, she really likes the grapes. …Sorry, dad. I’m sorry.” cracks me up just thinking about it.
Also, there has never been a funnier line than when the panicked guy in the fire jumped in the pool, hit Job’s trick “walk on water” glass surface, and screamed “OH GOD, WHY AM I NOT SINKING?!”
I would have said the final season of Red Dwarf was a bit of a return to form, and a bit funny.
One of the creators left after end of Season 5, and Season 6 and 7 were basically the scifi bits of previous seasons and repeating the jokes all over again “Oh good, the cat has buck teeth and a flask… AGAIN”…
They tightened up a bit for the 8th… IMO…
On another note, I still wonder why exactly the people who played the “brits” (which means english) in the second/third season seemed to be Australian to me…
If anyone ever has the chance to watch all the series of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, I’d really recommend never watching the fourth and final season…
Cleese had left, and with him, a lot of the quality control over Chapmans role had gone and thus the show became surreal unfunny nonsense… It really ruins the classic status of the previous three seasons…
Don’t get me wrong, those episodes were as funny as anything has been on TV, but the last season wasn’t as “tight” as the first two, IMHO.
