TV Storyline / Characters you best connect with

I was thinking about TV shows, and characters and stoylines that really strike a chord. For me, it’s Frasier: specifically the Niles/Daphne storyline. The show is a favorite of mine (one of my top 3 favorite series of all time), and I have a very personal connection to the Niles/Daphne story.

I had a crush / unrequited love for my wife for a decade before we began dating, and her hair always reminded me of Daphne’s in the early seasons. For that reason, even in the early seasons, I associated Daphne with my wife…it just so happens that both Daphne / Niles end up together, and 12 years later, my wife and I ended up together.

What characters on TV shows do you most identify with, and why? Dramas, comedies…everything is fair game.

Eric in “That 70s Show,” except for I don’t smoke pot or have a hot girlfriend. But no matter what, Eric has the ability to make any bad situation worse, and unfortunatly, I do that.

All the damn time.

The characters in “Freaks and Geeks” and “Undeclared” were very familiar to me.

Large parts of the character of Brian Krakow in My So Called Life, although more in general than in specific.

Chandler (Friends) always seemed like a lot of my high school friends.
Paul (Mad About You) reminded me of my first boyfriend.
Amy (Bosom Buddies) was the one I most identified with personally.
My big high school love was most like an amalgam of Doctors Carter and Green (E.R.).
In college, 2 of my friends were blond versions of Julie and Barbara (One Day At A Time) and we knew of (but were not friends with) a blond Ann - we kept trying to get all 3 in the same place at the same time.

Well, like the OP, I’m always a sucker for sentimental romantic subplots. Frasier, Firefly, countless utterly doomed anime characters…the whole schmear.

(The other half of me just roots for mad scientists trying to Tamper in God’s Domain. Soar high, modern Promethei! :smiley: )
