TV's Brave New World - How Much is It Worth to YOU?

I currently don’t have any means of watching TV. I’m thinking that I should maybe sign up with one of the online services like Netflix. But there’s no way I’d even consider paying for cable TV, in the current environment: Even with a supposed “cost-saving bundle”, I’d be paying several times more than Netflix, for a small fraction of the content.

We pay a little over $200/mth for cable+phone+internet including HBO and Starz. I barely watch TV but my wife does and she’s managed to turn a blog she does about a TV show into a paid endeavor making more per year than we’re spending on cable so… I can’t complain.

Paying about $210 a month for a triple-play plan with TV, internet and two phone lines. I could drop that by $25 if I got rid of one of the phone lines and carried the TV box from room to room. As someone noted above using the Bravo channel as an example, I’m trapped at the tier I have as I really like the Smithsonian and Science channels, but they’re only available in tiers that also contain Showtime and HBO, neither of which are worth a cracked DVD to me.

Going with a terrestrial or OTA antenna is geographically infeasible with mountains between me and the transmitters.
