TWC DNS Networks

Try Googling the Primary & Secondary DNS Networks of the Technicolor router TWC issued me w/ new service about 3 weeks ago. BTW, they placed the router in a far corner of the house.

Tech support will not even discuss “Advanced Settings” on the router’s home page.

They will be lucky to have my service in a month!

I don’t see a question here. I am not sure if the OP is seeking advice to solve his problem (and the exact problem is not entirely clear), or just wants to rant.

You may open a new thread in IMHO if you want advice for solving your problem. Please be clear as to what your question is.

You may open a new thread in the Pit if you want to complain about service.

I’m closing this one.

um, ok?

The Weather Channel has DNS now? Who knew?

I’ve set most of my devices to use Google’s DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. (That’s IPv4. I don’t have the ones for IPv6 memorized … yet.)

What my router thinks my ISP’s DNS servers are is immaterial to those.

From the tone, I can sense there’s some kind of complaint in this. But I’ll be damned up one side and down the other if I can parse it. Still, as you note, if you’re not happy with the service provided by your current ISP, you definitely should change that.

Also, as far as I know, using a ISP-provided premise router is a choice, and accepting that choice also inherently includes accepting the limitations and lack of control. If you want to mess with the “advanced settings” page of a device, you should probably actually own the device first. And if you do, and you can’t get good tech support, either (A) learn on your own, (B) get better tech support, or (C) replace the device with one you can support. Because poorly supported network infrastructure is half the reason why we have raging pandemics of network and system infections.
