It’s fucking October. Eighty degrees is not acceptable.
This has been my week for far:
Autobody shop - Hi, we’re ready to fix your car! We just need an authorization from you!
Me - We’re waiting for an estimate from you so the insurance company can decided whether to fix or write off.
Autobody shop - No, that’s not what’s going on - we have the estimate from the insurance company, and we’re just going to repair it.
Me - That’s not what they told me - they said they needed a more accurate estimate from you.
Autobody shop - Okay, we’ll contact your insurance company,
Insurance company - Hello, stupid, just sign the damned form. Don’t you understand anything? I’m busy - get off my damned phone.
Me - …But - that’s not what you told me!
Insurance company - You’re just too stupid to understand. Just sign the form.
Me - Okay. {Goes off to autobody shop, signs forms.}
Cut to later this week:
Autobody shop - Hi, we’re starting to fix your car now!
Me - …But I’m still waiting on an estimate from you!
Autobody shop - No, we have an estimate from your insurance company. We’ve got it in the bay and are going to start working on it.
Me - That’s not my understanding - they said they needed an estimate from YOU!
Autobody shop - Well, this is highly irregular and unusual, but we’ll call your insurance company and get it sorted out.
Me - Please do that.
I’m waiting for the call from my insurance company telling me that I’m stupid and I don’t understand anything again and just give them the okay to go ahead with the repair already. On the plus side, some of the insurance people take two days to return a call, so we’ll get on that in a timely fashion, I’m sure, while my rental car time runs out.
(gently, and with a very warm smile, points gamers to a whole forum called The Game Room)
OK, flame away, but I stay out of that forum for a reason.

If your PJ’s are that old, I think you’re wearing lint held together with surface tension.
I’m gonna bookmark this thread for the next time someone tells me that our horrible socialist government insurance here in BC is so much less efficient than the amazing free-market private insurance in Alberta.
Thanks, Yllaria. I still have a bit of a headache, but I’m feeling much better today.
You have people who think free-market private insurance is a good thing?!? Yeah, I suppose you do - it takes all kinds of nuts to make the world go 'round. ![]()
Is it the gibberish?
I bet it’s the gibberish, right?
ETA: *pity my main is a veggie, mainly because I thought the munchkins look like weasels and I sort of like the veggies
*
That gibberish, right?
I haven’t read the posts mostly, because each time I start to read one without knowing what it’s going to be about, I can’t understand anything.
So yes, I guess it is the gibberish. Not necessarily the stuff you quoted, though.

Why can’t my son’s fiddle teacher deposit his check on (or around) the same day each month? I always pay him on or before the first lesson of the month, as he requests. I don’t expect him to run right out and deposit it that day, but sometimes he does. Other months, it’s a couple weeks later. On more than one occasion he as cashed the current month and the previous months checks on the same day. I’m guessing he doesn’t have cash flow problems and just gets to the bank when he feels like it, but it’s irritating to me. Not enough to do or say anything about it, but just enough that I thought I’d rant about it here.
Would it make more sense from your perspective to simply get cash from your ATM on the day of the first lesson and pay him with that? Then you know the money is gone from your account and you don’t have to worry about being blindsided 3-4 weeks later.
He prefers checks. I’m not really blindsided. I mean, I keep track of my account so I know to keep enough for when he does get around to cashing the checks. I’m just so orderly with my money and he seems so random with depositing checks. If it really bothered me, I could probably pay in cash or get a money order, but I’m also kind of lazy and the checkbook is always right there in my purse. ![]()
If you play it makes sense. One race is the Sylvari - plantbased, the veggies. The munchkin are the Asura, little weasely guys. Big Kittys are the Charr, Viking Dudes are the Norn, and then boring humans.
Oooh, I don’t think I’ve found that one yet. I’ll have to look for it!
Giggling now, I understood it completely and immediately, but didn’t think of how it would look to non-gamers until you folks so amusingly pointed it out. (sorry! I’ll slink away to the game forum now).
I’m sure it would. But I don’t, you see.

I don’t get this part, don’t you just subtract the amount right when you write the check? If you do/did, it shouldn’t matter when the check is deposited because you’ve already subtracted the amount.
Any other non-gamers thinking of this Farside cartoon? ![]()
I get the rant about the cheque not being deposited ASAP - when I have outstanding cheques, I have to keep them in the back of my mind. I’d rather they just get cashed already.
I’m turning forty in a couple of weeks. I don’t want to be forty.
Fuck.
Don’t play. Don’t care.
Yes. Take the gibberish where it’s supposed to go. I didn’t have anything to mini rant about until I was subjected to having to start reading gibberish so I could figure out it was gibberish I had to skip. Blah blah blah.
