Twitter Question: I get constant tweets from a place I don't follow

I only use Twitter for a very specific purpose, namely to communicate directly with someone, maybe a reporter or company or something. I only “follow” three places. I have no followers of my own.

I have tweeted directly to my local PBS station a couple of times when I’ve had technical difficulties receiving a signal OTA. This worked great. I got a reply back promptly that told me what to tweak and all was good.

But now when I log into Twitter I seem to be getting everything the PBS station is sending out. I have a whole string of boring, useless tweets from them every day. I checked, and I’m still not following them.

I guess I don’t understand enough about how Twitter works, but why am I getting all this stuff from a place I’m not following. And how do I make it quit?

I think this cut and paste from Twitter’s help section answers your question.

Taken from here.

  1. Thanks.
  2. Grrr…

I could have searched for that myself, but I like it when people here tell me stuff. Interestingly, I was looking at the Twitter settings on my kindle, but the help document I located after your post said to go to the settings on your Twitter page on the web. MANY more options there for shutting down unwanted traffic.
