It is bad enough folks worry after they hear that one comet is wandering into this neck of the woods, now they have a pair of space rocks hurling toward the planet at super speeds. Not to worry though, NASA has made it very clear that these comets, although closer than any other comets have come to the Earth in the past 250 years, are far enough away and won’t cause any harm.

The bigger of the two comets will pass by Monday and as long as the sky is clear and you are away from the city lights it should be easy to spot. This bigger comet is glowing emerald green!

Comet 252P/LINEAR will zoom past just 5.3 million kilometres from Earth, or around 14 times the distance to the Moon, around 12.15pm UTC on Monday 21 March (8.15am EDT; 11.15pm AEDT).

But right behind will be P/2016 BA14, which will whiz by a mere 3.5 million kilometres away, or within nine Moon distances, around 2.30pm UTC the following day (10.30am EDT; 1.30am Wednesday AEDT).
