Two different PC games think they're the same

Hello dopers! I’ve run into an unusual problem trying to run a couple of my favorite PC racing games. I currently have Need for Speed Most Wanted and while it’s fun I was also craving the elegant simplicity of Need for Speed Underground. But when I try to install Underground it asks me if I want to play Most Wanted. EA Games knows about installer issues, per their support page here.
But I’m not having the problem they describe (new game won’t install because of old one), I’m running into the opposite (old game won’t install because of new one). Now I see they have a page on going into the registry to delete a value but that refers to Underground 2 rather than one and I don’t want to hack and slash in the registry unless I absolutely must. So I ask the Teeming Millions: any ideas on how I can have both of these games installed on the same machine?

Uninstall new game, install old game then reinstall new game using the company’s procedure.

Just bumping my old thread to say I found the solution in the depths of EA’s message boards. It’s actually pretty simple. Take NFSU folder and put it in Recycle Bin. Install NFS:MW. Restore NFSU from the Bin.

All I can say is damn… I wish I had thought of it myself.

I think I remember the application are both named speed.exe or something. Sort of a dumb move on EA’s part.
