You’re not making it up, and while you still might be crazy, I vividly remember that as well. Not in those words, but the association was that you do it to a person you like romantically. However, this was an early 1990’s childhood in Russia, so I don’t know what to make of this.
Edit: Also of note is that in Russian, the idiom “to give horns to somebody” means to cheat on them in a relationship. (usually marriage).
