Two General Questions about Roger Wilco and 555 numbers.

  1. Who’s “Roger Wilco”? I mean, the “roger roger” that people keep saying on radio transmission, at least on movies (even the dreadful Episode 1)?

  2. Why every phone from movies or TV series begin with 555? There are some countries that ACTUALLY use the prefix 555, like Argentina, Brazil and Guatamela. So how did Hollywood came with 555?

1) [Kareem Abdul-Jabbar] Huh? [/Kareem Abdul-Jabbar]

Seriously, uniball, we are going to have a difficult time being friends if you don’t learn to search the archives.

It took, like, one minute.

Seriously.

Seriously, I didn’t found it. Otherwise I wouldn’t be asking. Oh, and I don’t befriend flamers, and you’re clearly trying to flame me. At least, you’re the only one complaining and saying that I will “get a rep”, whatever that means. Not a good thing for a moderator to do. And I cannot even complain directly to you, cause your mail adress is not available. Shame.

Good for you. You must have a fast connection. Me? A friggen dial-up. It takes ten minutes to give me any search results. Heck, it takes me 10 minutos just to refresh this page!

Roger Wilco is the main character in Sierra’s “Space Quest” computer adventure game series.
Roger Wilco is also a computer program for speaking in real time while playing computer games (such as StarCraft.)
Uniball, obviously you and manhattan are not going to be friends. But he is not trying to flame you. It is expected that you do a search before posting to GQ. Perhaps you really did do a search. But since manhattan found results so quickly and easily, he is probably skeptical that you ever tried to look for it yourself.

manhattan’s email is in fact available. It is “manhattan91” @ hotmail.com. If you had bothered to click on his profile you would have found this out.

I’m very sorry that your internet connection is so slow. If it impedes your enjoyment of the world wide web and this message board, perhaps you should consider getting a faster modem/ better connection.

I DO have a 56 modem. That’s not the problem. The problem is the lousy and noisy phone line, and the fact that broadband servers haven’t arrived in the godforsaken french village I live.
