Anyone have a refurbished Kindle? How’s the quality, any issues?
Anyone use Amazon’s Whispersync? How well does it work? Is it worth getting the ebook and audiobook (seems $20 - $25 for both), or just use it with an Audible subscription?
Whispersync just means that when you read the kindle book to a certain page, then turn on the audiobook the narration picks up where you left off reading. And vice versa. Works extremely well. Sometimes I buy the audiobook and the kindle; sometimes just one of them. Depends on the book and the use I intend to make of it. I have about 800 books in my kindle library–I LOVELOVELOVE the device. (Most are in the cloud; I only have a dozen or so downloaded at a time.)
Buying the audiobook from the amazon site and buying from audible.com are the same thing. Log into audible.com with your amazon login/password.
I never buy refurbished anything. When it comes to electronics, I want a new one, thank you. I just bought my fifth kindle (because it was so cheap), but I mostly use my fourth one (kindlefire hd) because the screen is bigger.
Yeah, got caught out by that a couple of times. Had an audible account and had to remind myself ebook first, ebook first!
I’m not sure about refurbished Kindles. I assume you mean e-readers? Refurbished as in replacement screen and brand new battery (otherwise it’s not really refurbished, just secondhand)? Amazon do have pretty good replacement guarantees for Kindles that malfunction within the first year (even if you drop them!) so I’d want a really good discount when buying a refurbished Kindle. When replacing mine about a year and a half ago I did research refurbished Kindles but the price difference just wasn’t enough. I knew that I’d be using it a lot for three or four years and that’s worth paying for a new one.
Amazon stopped calling its non-e-reader tablets “Kindles” a few years ago. So “Kindle” means “e-reader” FAPP.
The refurbished/warehouse deals on Amazon products have been less than good. During the holiday sales, many items could be bought new for far less than the used ones. The used ones really aren’t worth it.
