Two problems

1. Sometimes, though not always, when I reply to a post with a numbered list it gets changed to a bulleted list. Changing quoted material is forbidden by forum rules.

2. Sometimes – again, not always – when I highlight part of a post and Ctrl-C to copy it, it gets entered into a reply as quoted material. If I wanted it as a quote, I would have quoted it, not copied it.

Yes, my topic is similar to “Two ‘easy’ math problems”, but that’s in a different forum and has nothing to do with this.

And no, I do NOT want my numbered paragraphs indented! They’re not a list!

Indentation of numbered lists seems to be the standard behavior in just about every word processing app and forum website I have ever used.

Yes, and it irritates the [EXPLETIVE DELETED] out of me when that happens. If I want it indented, I’ll indent it. If I didn’t indent it, that means I don’t want it indented. [EXPLETIVES DELETED] programmers who think they know more about how my documents should look than I do…

If you put a \ between the 1 and the period, the list isn’t indented.

But then when you quote it, ht \ isn’t included in the quote, so you have to reinsert it.
