Two quick days in Austin - What not to miss?

I’ve never been to Austin and I am going down for a quick work trip. I will have most of Sunday, and then Monday evening to explore. I love live music so I am really looking forward to my visit. Also love craft beer and interesting food. I’m fine doing the touristy stuff, but also like off-the-beaten-path stuff. I don’t currently have a car planned since I am staying at the hotel where I will be working (right off 4th and Red River,) but it’s an option if there’s a reason to go afar.

So, Austin-familiar dopers, what should I try not to miss on such a short stay?

You MUST do the Duck Tour. Amphibious vehicle drives you around the city’s sights for a bit, then–SPLASH–into the reservoir with you. Hopefully, they still furnish the duck calls that look like bills.

  1. Bat flight from under the Congress Avenue Bridge. 2.Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (if you like being outdoors and seeing wildflowers)

If you are from outside their distribution area, get some Jester King beer to take home.
