I have two thoughts on this. My first thought is Thank Og stormchaser’s time is up! and my second thought was how many veterans are in support of this.
What do you guys think?
It is clearly stated that everyone in the military signs up for an eight year commitment. The commitment can be fulfilled in any combination of active, reserve, National Guard or IRR time. This combination is in the enlistment contract. Anyone who was in for over 8 years enters the IRR voluntarily. In other words there is no draft so they all know the possibilities for activation are there. If you want to look at a real call up of the ready reserve look at the Korean War. I don’t have the numbers but they called up a ton of WWII vets to fight in Korea.
I have heard a lot of outcry about this, but if you join the military, you know what you are getting into. I feel the same way about this as I feel about calling up Reserves.
