Anyone seen the current tour of La Cage Aux Folles?
I’m taking my niece next week to see it in San Diego. She loves the original French film (to which I can take credit for introducing her!). I also love the original film but have never seen the musical adaption (I’ve never seen it on stage in any form- I realize it was a non-musical stage play before it was a film).
I don’t know any of the songs, but I’ve decided to wait and hear them for the first time as we watch the show. I see that the songs were written by Jerry Herman, who wrote the songs for Hello Dolly!, songs I do like (for the most part) so that’s promising.
I do have my hopes set pretty high for George Hamilton as Georges. Zorro: The Gay Blade has been one of my favorite movies since highschool. I think Hamilton could be great in this (though I don’t know if he can sing, and I don’t know how much singing is required of his character).
