I can see how both parties were at fault–the student should’ve shown his ID or left when first asked, and the police could’ve just carried him out without tasering him repeatedly. Excessive violence sickens me though.
Excessive violence sickens me as well. That’s why I’m happy to see officers using a Taser instead of wrestling or punching. Anytime your lay hands on a suspect like that, the potential for the situation to snowball into something completely worse is so much greater. The Taser prevents this. It’s a good thing. It prevents violence and prevents abuse. People who think it’s electrocution or extremely violent simply do not understand it.
Someone who was very concerned about police brutality, excessive use of force, police corruption, etc, would want cops to use Tasers, simply because they discourage the use of more violent actions like punching, wrestling, clubbing, etc.
