UEFA Euro 2024

It was a relaxing game to watch, and I don’t get to say that very often (recently) as a Germany fan. Donovan was right, however, that Scotland’s plan was hard to figure out.

Germany looked imaginative in attack and precise in their finishing, but my god what was Scotland doing out there…that was hard to watch. Looking forward to see how 16-year Lamine Yamal performs on this big stage for Spain.

Panicking.

I’ve got Hungary in the work sweepstake, so backing them against the Swiss here.

I do think Hungary are dark horses - they were unbeaten in qualifying, finished above both Germany and England in the Nations League having beaten them both, and are really well organised.

Mind you, @EinsteinsHund will tell me not to underestimate Switzerland in Euros games.

Heh, I always tell myself and everybody else not to underestimate any opponent, be it Gibraltar or Brazil . “Es gibt keine kleinen Gegner mehr” (“There are no small opponents anymore”) (Berti Vogts, ca. 1995).

Sadly, I can’t watch the current game, it’s one of the few games exclusively shown on pay TV here.

That’s very poor. I noticed in France they had some of the World Cup behind a pay wall.

It’s a bit annoying, but AFAIK this only includes six games, four in the groups and two in the round of 16. Every German game of course will be shown on free TV, or else there would have been a riot here.

Scotland has a population of about 3,500,000, so that means 140,000 fans travelled! :astonished:

I read today on kicker.de that from the Munich game yesterday, 10,000 Scots are heading back home, while another 10,000 fresh fans will travel to the Wednesday game against Switzerland in Cologne.

Not a great match between Croatia and Spain so far, I expected better. But that’s rather typical when heavyweights meet early in a tournament.

ETA: and as I’m complaining, Spain scores!

ETA2: and the 2-0! Nice dance through the defense before this goal.

Wow, seems like Spain demolish Croatia like Germany did Scotland.

Christ. Who got subbed in for all those good Croatian players?

Yeah this halftime score surprises me, Croatia has some quality players in the lineup.

By the way, where’s @Pardel-Lux? Spain playing in Berlin, is he one of the Spanish supporters in the stadium (who are in the minority)?

Nope, I’m at home, watching the live stream. 3 - 0 at half time, that is good. Liking Lamine Yamal a lot. And wondering how it is possible that Morata scores an important goal, can’t remember when he last did.

Lamine Yamal is amazing - barely 16 years old! He was instrumental for the third Spanish goal and almost scored early in the second half. This kid has enormous potential!

Anybody watching the Italy-Albania game? Italy almost set to win 2-1, but Albania has been fighting every moment and in fact scored within the first minute of the game!

Italy had to win that because their next two games are against Spain and Croatia.

That’s why they started with the closest thing to an own goal from a throw in after 16 seconds  They know how to make it interesting.

Odd decision by Eng;and to play Foden on the left when there was a right-footed left back behind him. Serbia put up a great fight and England couldn’t cope with them in midfield in the second half, but had enough. As an England fan I’m delighted our defence looked pretty solid as that was my main concern. The midfield will improve.

And Jude Bellingham is one hell of a player.
