UEFA Euro 2024

28? I must’ve missed something! Last time I checked it was 58.

It was a reference to my own NT 28 year dry spell, that ended on July 2021.

Ah I see, well in that case… pah! 28 years?! Is that all?!

Let me tell you: shorter is better.

It was pure torture because I (born in 1978) watched my first world cup in 1986 when God Himself raised the trophy, and then in 1990 we reached the final, then we won 2 back to back Copa Americas (1991 and 1993), for me it was inconceivable that we could participate in a tournament and not reach the final at the very least.
Then… nothing, for years, then we had Messi, surely the MESSIah would take us were God had taken us… only to lose final after final after final… it was sheer torture.
And then… well, you know.

I don’t know how you’ve coped with only 6 (?) trophies in 46 years. How awful. :smirk:

It’s hard, but we try our best to carry the burden of being the best national team of the last 50 years with incredible humility and modesty…

That’s the reason everybody loves you. That, and being World Champions of Psychotherapy. So endearing!

And inflation!

And chimmichuri.

But does it work?

I’d give that title to Spain personally.

I have to admit from personal recollection and bitter experience that Spain has been the best national team in the world only for about 20 years, not 50.
And that period includes enormous disappointments like the World Cups in Russia and Qatar, where la Roja was just ridiculous.

In trophies won there is no comparison.
Argentina: 3 World Cups, 4 Copa Americas.
Spain: 1 World Cup, 3 Euros.
But it can be argued that the Spain NT that won the 2010 WC was the better team in other, harder to qualify, measurements.

Hmm. What’s the assertion? That the current Argentina iteration is the best team out of any team in the last 50 years, or that the federation won more? I was considering the former.

ETA - I see the assertion was actually the latter.

Four Euros, please.

AHHHHHH :scream:
crosses himself

Not in the last 50 years, the first one was in 1964.

OK, granted.

If they played 2 Euros a year like they do Copa, Spain would probably have even more.
