Damn, you got something there. I had a paper route with the Nazi Arkansas newspaper…now only Arkansas newspaper…The Arkansas Democrat. The sun cooled by something like 12 Kelvins. My calculator didn’t have enough decimals to calculate the percent change. The Democrat ran, in type larger than the Pearl Harbor attack, SUN COOLING OFF!
Sorry if I don’t follow your humor cp, but I would be amazed to hear anyone seriously question that the Chicago Trib has a long history of supporting the Republican party. McCormick made no secret about it, tho as I acnowledged, I believe it is becoming less blatant than in decades past. I was merely pointing the presidential endorsements as one extreme example of this tendency - you’d think that somewhere in the past century or so there would have been at least a single Dem candidate worth endorsing over his Repub opponent… I also acknowledge that the editorial board is in certain ways distinct and insulated from the news departments.
Just observing that IMO, if you show me that an individual or entity has what appears to be a clear and consistent bias in one respect, I’m going to be reluctant to just accept it as given that they are scrupulously objective in all other respects.
Yeah, no odd cloud formations with planes travelling, and lights shining could ever trick anyone.
It’s not like clouds ever look like
or
But since you’re
I guess that puts it to rest. No sense looking for an explanation that actually MAKES SENSE.

Trunk,
Earthfiles.com is blocked by the server here at my job. It’s a GOVERNMENT NETWORK…
CONSPIRACY, I say!
Come on Trunk, those clouds don’t look ANYTHING like alien spaceships. Or black helicopters. Or faeries.
I always wonder when these sighting occur how people can be so sure of how big the object was, how high it was, and what it was hoovering over.
When I see a 747 in the sky I can get an idea of where it is because
- I know how big a 747 is.
- I know how high they typically fly.
- I know how fast they move.
If I see a silver disc in the air I have no idea if it’s 12" wide and hovering 10’ over my garage, or if it’s 12’ wide and hovering 1000’ in the air somewhere past my garage. Reason being, I’ve never seen a silver disc in the air so I have no idea what it is. I have no idea how fast it’s moving since I have no idea how close I am to it. If I’m staring up in the air and a fly wizzes by and I mistake it for a helicopter 5000’ up in the air, well that’s one damn fast eratic flying helicopter.
And there’s a lot of stuff up in the sky besides airplanes and alien ships.
Clouds, mylar balloons, model airplanes, model rockets, frisbees, toy ufos, birds, plastic bags, swarms of gnats, fireworks, etc.
Yeah, that crosses my mind too. They don’t really address the point that most people can’t tell their ass from their elbow, though. I mean, we’re talking about crazies anyway, right?
While I’d like to believe that a lot of sightings are attributable to stuff like balloons, plastic bags, frisbees, toys, or fireworks, none of those things have the fast and linear flight paths or altitude exhibited by the most controversial sightings, which is why I’m sure the most controversial sightings are experimental aircraft operating at a level well beyond the rules of standard airspace regulations. UFO photos are always too blurry to make out any detail (either because they’re hoaxes or being mistaken for something else), but the interesting parts of stories involving multiple eyewitnesses are the descriptions of the movement of the unknown objects. They don’t move like frisbees, balloons, or planes. They change direction, move at ridiculous speeds, disappear, reappear, etc.
I saw something in the sky once, in the middle of the night, that didn’t move at all. Thought it was the moon at first, but I quickly realized that: 1) the moon was on the other side of the sky, 2) it was too small to be the moon, 3) it was too big to be a star or planet, 4) it was much brighter than anything else in the sky, 5) I’d never seen anything like it before, and 6) it vanished behind cloud cover after a few minutes. Was it controlled by aliens? Don’t think so. Was it controlled by people? Could’ve been. Was it a planet like you see in this photo? If it was, it would have to have been way off its orbit and only a few hundred thousand miles away because it was several times bigger than either of the planets in that photo. Was it a geosynchronous satellite in an unusually low orbit? It looked like a great big glowing pearl in the sky. If I could compare it to anything, it was like a stadium flood light, but it was many hundreds of feet in the air. I might also add that I don’t live in a remote area, so I don’t really get to appreciate the beauty of cosmos with any real clarity, so if this was an astral phenomena, I have no idea what it may have been.
I know for certain though that what I saw was no cloud, paper bag, frisbee, firework, spotlight, or airplane. Kinda like the pilots in the story.
Curiouser and curiouser.
