Ugly routes

Oooooh did you hit a sore spot for me today! My BF doesn’t believe this happened (he’s not much of a newspaper reader) and he just doesn’t understand why I’m annoyed that half of my daily commute to school in Pasadena occurs on congested side streets.

“Why don’t you take the 110? It drops you off about a mile from school.”

This brings maniacal laughter to the surface… yeah, like I’m going to touch the East LA interchange at 3 pm.

On the OP: For the L.A. area, I nominate the 710 and the 5 (especially the stretch between the 605 and the 101) as being the ugliest.

Just had to have good ironic fun with my reply. Highway 228 going from Houston through Pasadena Tx, ending up on Galveston Bay just across from Baytown. Refiniries, chemical plants, long rows of petroleum tanks line about 1-2 miles. Of course, older neighborhoods are mixed into the scene. Pasadena High School is on the Highway.

Actually the stretch is about 20 miles.

We thought this drive would treat us to beautiful coastline scenery but it mostly seemed to be industrial and ugly. There were a lot of what looked like refineries.

The bus route between Orly Airport and Villejuif metro on the outskirts of Paris. I’m sure they keep that route ugly just so the city proper seems more glittering by comparison.
