Um…I was sitting next to my brother’s Xbox 360 and…it tipped over…and now…the disk won’t read or something…he’s crying…
I feel bad. :smack:

How old’s your brother?
And was it actually your fault?
Try cleaning the disc spindle area - it may just be that some dirt got into it, or something. And check other games, if you have any yet; it may that just that disc got scratched.
Don’t these things have warrenties? Granted, it may take a whiel to get a replacement, but it shouldn’t cost anything.
He’s 13. And I don’t know if it was my fault. It was really an accident. I jumped up, nudged the little platform thingie it was on and it tipped over. My mother got a little annoyed with my brother because she think he’s being too emotional. Er…for now, I’m just gonna stay away from his Xbox.
[On preview: it’s not his Xbox that’s damaged, it’s his game disk. Perfect Dark Zero, for anyone wondering.]
<gamer> Oooooh, Perfect Dark Zero! </gamer.
Ah well. If it was the Xbox that broke, it’d probably be a lot more concerning then the game, seeing as how they’re currently either rare-ish or selling for insane amounts on Ebay. Give the disc a wipe with a non-static cloth, check if there are any cracks or scratches, and if worst comes to worst, you’ll probably have to buy him a new one. Amazon says $49.99. Ouch. But at least it’s better than buying a whole new console.
I think if I damaged my little brother’s gaming equipment, in any way, you’d hear about my murder on the eleven o’clock news.
Disc should be fine, though, just wipe it with a clean cloth. hugs sympathetically
I told my brother that Dopers suggest cleaning the disc. He did. It works again. Break out the champagne everybody.
But not near the Xbox!
Oh, yeah…let’s go into the kitchen then.
Could be it was already broken. Microsoft is already admitting to many reports of glitches, such as a failure to read the game.
Good thing I wasn’t planning on buying one. Wasn’t there some guy who stood in line for 52 hours in order to get the first Xbox 360 when a store opened? When he got the game, he went outside and smashed it on the ground just to freak out everyone else in line.
If that’s legit, I officially love that guy.
If you have a problem with a scratched game disc, take it to a place that sells used CDs and DVDs. They usually have equipment to repair scratches and are willing to do it for a couple of bucks per disc.
Oh, it’s legit. (It was actuallyl 5 hours though).
Whoops. That’s more believable.
Oh, my…if my brother knew about what that guy did, he’d personally go after him for doing such a thing.
