UK TV Links, a site providing links to other websites (like Youtube) hosting TV and movies was shut down and the administrator arrested.
FACT have provided the following on the arrest;
I can’t recall much about the site itself, but under what part of UK law was this fellow arrested? He didn’t store any illegal material, but told others where to find it. Is this “aiding and abetting” a criminal?
He’s been arrested under section 92 of the Trade Mark Act, on suspicion of supplying property with a registered trademark, without permission.
Ofcourse just because you’re arrested on suspicion of something, doesn’t mean you’ll be charged.
FACT intially released a statement saying that he had been arrested for “offences relating to the facilitation of copyright infringement on the Internet”. Which would be difficult as there’s no such offence in the UK.
