David Soul - one of the stars of the tv show ‘Starksy & Hutch’ (the blond guy)
‘Don’t Give Up on Us’ - feeble attempt at solo singing career (a la David Hasselhof and another tv actor whose name I cannot remember [from Miami Vice - not Don Johnson, the other guy]
Aglarond and I must be about the same age. 29 July 1978 is “You’re the One That I Want.” It’s all about the Grease soundtrack…
The number 1 on the 1st July 1976 was You To Me Are Everything by The Real Thing
What? Who? No fair.
8 August 1963: “Sweets for my Sweet” by the Searchers???
I can feel the saccharine levels rising already… <shudder>
Ha,ha. Mine is ‘The Last Time’ by the Rolling Stones! Besides the fact that I like the song, I believe those were the exact words my mother spoke after I was born. Changed her mind and had my sister (thank the powers that be, one worth while child in the family). Her song is ‘Young Love’ by Donny Osmond. blech.
There’ll be no comments on this one, dammit!!!
Mrs. Stofsky’s is “Good Vibrations.”
Ouch.
Mine is “Oh Boy” by Mud. I’ve never heard of it.
According to the records my mom kept in my baby book, the number one song in the U.S. when I was born was “The Hustle.” (shudder)
I got Wooden Heart by Elvis Presley. I was never a big Elvis fan, but at least he was still cool in '61, wasn’t he? C’mon, humor me.
Ahh, I was wondering where my husband came up with this today. Mine is “Three Times a Lady.” Hmmm.
The number 1 on the 3rd March 1969 was Where Do You Go To My Lovely by Peter Sarstedt
Anyone? Gotta be sideburns involved in that little gem, I’m sure.
First, I’d like to say i have never heard this song in my life, nor the band name. But, the title of the song does have a profound significance in the way my life has unfolded. I’m a very materialistic person, and Use It Up and Wear It Out pretty much covers the bases on that.
June 9, 1964. “You’re My World,” by Cilla Black. Never heard the song, and I get the impression that she’s on par with Petulla Clark, et al. I was looking forward to some early Beatles.
On my birthday, June 21, 1963 the number one song is “I Like It” by Gerry and the Pacemakers I have had the misfortune to hear it ::shudder::, well at least it is from Liverpool.

12 Oct. 1973
Eye Level by Simon Park Orchestra
Yeah, okay. Whatever.
This is terribly frightening.
Destroyed any desire I had to seek out the song.
Boy, some of you people make me feel ancient.
October 14, 1963–Do You Love Meby Brian Poole & The Tremeloes. The US #1 on that date was Sugar Shackby Jimmy Gilmer & The Fireballs. Like, yay hooray.
Please Release Me by Engelbert Humperdinck
Wow, were you born in June 1974? I was born on the 6th and
I have heard the song. shudder I don’t believe it was number 1 for long.
It would have to be a song that I despise with every molecule of my being.
“Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel
However, there seems to be a certain irony going on here. The little snot that is my brother got “Prince Charming” by Adam and the Ants.
11th April 1956 - It’s Almost Tomorrow by The Dreamweavers.
Apparently, they were a studio-only band from Miami and someone else had a hit with it a few years later. Doesn’t ring a bell.
