Find out the #1 song on your birthday (US or UK)

Fun.

My 1st birthday celebrated I Will Survive sung by the ferocious Gloria Gaynor.

My 18th birthday celebrated Wannabe by the Spice Girls.

Both of these songs are guilty pleasures for me.

What songs do you get?

Oh god… The Chipmunk Song by Alvin and the Chipmunks.

That’s a bit of ignorance that could’ve gone undisspelled. Really.

People got to be free - The Rascals was number one the day I was born.

I never had any psychic connection with the song.

Now, if Ball of Confusion came up…

Is that for US or UK?
Or just ask me…the guy who knows virtually everything about No.1 hits
Mine was Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel.Suits me

Day I was born: Night Fever, Bee Gees
18th Birthday: Always Be My Baby, Mariah Carey
21st Birthday: No Scrubs, TLC

On the day I was born:

A Big Hunk O’ Love by Elvis Presley

Thus spake the prophet.

On the day I was born, it was “All In The Game” by Tommy Edwards.
10th birthday: “Hey Jude” by The Beatles.
20th birthday: “Kiss You All Over” by Exile.
30th birthday: “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin (ugh).
40th birthday: “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith (never heard it).

Night Fever was #1 when I was born as well. You have a birthday coming up soon?

I’m so old, songs hadn’t been invented when I was born

Oh, wait, it was just that #1 song lists hadn’t been invented yet. Still…

When I became 18, though:

The Tears Of A Clown - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

Talk about sheer perfundity.

Popstrology is the same, but take the concept a bit further, at least for USians.

I’m a Smokey Robinson & the Miracles (Tears of a Clown) born in the Year of the Jackson 5.

Could be worse-- it’s not my favorite Smokey song, but at least it’s not the Jackson 5 or something worse.

The Letter - The Box Tops

Not only did I learn that my birth song was “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” by Sly & The Family Stone, but I also learned that was indeed how they spelled it.

I Want To Know What Love Is
Ugh.

“Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I do take a tremendous amount of pride in the fact that mine was cool.

::bows::

(in GB, it was “Telegram Sam” by T. Rex. I have no idea what that is.)

That’s an amazing song, from “The Slider” LP, one of my all-time faves. It’s got the strangest lyrics, to wit:

Automatic shoes, automatic shoes
Give me 3D vision and the California blues…

but then an awful lot of Marc Bolan’s lyrics have really strange lyrics.

On the day I was born, Kiss You All Over by Exile was #1 on the US charts.

On my twenty-first birthday, it was Unpretty by TLC.

On my birthday it was Le Freak by Chic. On my 18th birthday it was Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton.

Meh, I could take or leave either song.

I did the US one.

I was born a year before they started keeping track.

1st birthday - “Rock Around The Clock” - Bill Hayley and The Comets
I can live with that

16th birthday - “Close To You” - The Carpenters
GAG

18th birthday - “Alone Again (Naturally)” - Gilbert O’ Sullivan
GAG GAG

21st birthday - "One of These Nights - The Eagles
YAY! A good one!

30th birthday - “When Doves Cry” - Prince
I can live with that

40th birthday - "I Swear - All-4-One
GAG GAG GAG

50th birthday - “Confessions Part 2” - Usher
Having officially entered old fartdom that day I have no clue what this is

US:

Zeroth birthday: “Hey Jude” by the Beatles
18th birthday: “Amanda” by Boston (not bad)
21st birthday: “Listen to Your Heart” by Roxette (never heard it, but that was during my “never listen to anything current” stage)
30th birthday: “One Week” by the Barenaked Ladies (pretty good)
UK:

Zeroth birthday: “With a Little Help From My Friends” by Joe Cocker (better than the original, in my opinion, and I’m a huge Beatles fan)
18th birthday: “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin (gag)
21st birthday: “That’s What I Like” by Jive Bunny (never heard of it)
30th birthday: “Believe” by Cher (Bwahahaha!)

“Night Fever” - BeeGees.

Huh.
