UK Wills Search

My aunt in England died a few months ago. I was told I was remembered in her will. They recently told me they found a second will was made and my name removed. I was her closest blood relative. Does anyone know how I can get a copy of the will and if I have grounds to contest?

Contact the executors of her will if you know who they are.

If not, wills have to go for probate at the local probate office at some point before they can be executed. Find the address of that office and write to them saying that you believe that you may have an interest in her estate. Also write to your aunt’s last address and in brackets ‘For the attention of the executors of her will’. Tell them that you have also written to the probate office.

Executors have a duty to not disburse funds until they are certain that the will is provable, and would have to investigate whether your claim is justified.

Hope that helps. IANAL btw.

Thanks for your help. I live in Vancouver, B.C., Canada and she lived in Yapton, Nr Arundel, West Sussex. Do you know a website where I can find the address of the local probate office? Google searches give me a headache.:smack:
