If it’s not too personal, may I ask what size you are?
I’d love to find a strapless that works without being essentially “realllllly really tight corset-type-thing that covers only the boobs and tries to squish them into submission”.
But then again, I’m a 42J. Can’t find much in that size except at specialty stores - which tend to make bras that look like they’re constructed by engineers…AND that cost $60 - $75 each.
LB’s Cacique 46DDD almost work, so I’m going with them for a while yet.
When they start wearing out, though, I’m going to order my bras from Just My Size online store.
I know they go up to a size J, and maybe even a size K or L in some band sizes. Last I checked my size would run me about $25 / bra.
Just like to add a couple things:
JMS online is currently running a special: 2 bras for $20. I don’t know what sizes are / aren’t included.
second: Regardless of what the extra padding is supposed to do, I still find it hilarious to see the “cleavage enhancing” bras in MY SIZE. Ya know, guys-who-design-these-things…if my cleavage gets “enhanced” anymore than it is, I’ll have to rent a wheelbarrow to schlep it around in. Thanks just the same. snerk
I don’t really ever wear bras, besides when i excersize, but I’ve had to go to a lot of conferences and weddings lately, and it’s pretty obvious I don’t wear one, so to blend in, I thought it would be good to have one. I have the opposite problem of most of the women who have posted. I cannot find a small enough cup with a big enough band. Consequently, i got one with a slightly too large cup but the material was such that with a shirt on you couldn’t tell. I can’t even wear tops from lane bryant because they fall off my chest if i get them big enough for my tummy/hips.
damn you big chested girls making it so that i can’t wear shirts!
The Flaunt bra by Cacique at Lane Bryant is one of the cleavage enhancers. They have some at Frederick’s of Hollywood too, but none of them ever fit me.
Ladies, ladies, ladies. You have clearly missed the point of the “cookie” which is what the little paddy insert thing is called.
When you’re wearing a higher necked tee, you wear no cookie.
When you’re wearing a low cut top, you insert the cookie in the bra, and then the boobage spills over the top of the top. No quadro boob - more like boobs on parade.
These Lane Bryant people must be geniuses since so many peope like their bras. Personally, I fall into the needing a larger band and smaller cup category. I need support but I cannot wear underwire. No matter how well they fit, I end the day in agony with ugly red marks (I have dermatographia, so any rubbing at all causes welts). I actually found an all-stretch bra that fits, and supports without wire at LB, and it comes in colors. Now if I could only get them to realize that skinny pants and large shirts do not work for the pear-shaped…
It’s like you’ve just told me that you have a pet unicorn stabled in Atlantis. A strapless bra for mondo boobage? I will definitely have to check into that.
Wow, you guys have me convinced…I’m going to have to try out Lane Bryant for bras…as long as their bras have matching panties…I can’t wear a bra if I don’t have panties to match it.
Threads like this make me sad, as well as the shoes and other clothes-for-bootylicious-babes threads, because you all link to these nifty online stores, who all have cut and dried “NO! We no shippy to outside US. NO BRA FOR YOU!” shipping policies.
I’ma have to find me an agent in the states. International bra smuggling…
http://www.bravissimo.com/bravissimo/ Here ya go. Pretty (yet pricey) bras in big cup sizes and are shipped internationally (Hell, I get the seasonal catalogue delivered from England, even :)).
I’ve always thought the padding was for people who wanted to delude themselves into believing they wore a D or DD or whatever. I swear, they have about a C’s worth of cup space.
(My size, 34DD, is often a b&$%# to find in anything pretty. 34D, fine, 36DD, fine. No one seems to think small people have big boobs.)
That’s the weird thing. I can see my 36G being hard to find because G is a rather uncommon size. But there are so many women getting implants now to the D/DD range! You’d think there’d be a shift in the bra industry because of that. There’s a huge market for these sizes!
Target has D,DD,DDD and F (at least around here), if that helps. I’ve found 34Fs there before but they’re usually snapped up ASAP. Reminds me of that one Pit thread here about needing item A instead of item B. He goes to Best Buy and sees rows of B gathering dust and empty spaces for A. The sales guy said that they order tons of B because everyone wants them, but only a few of A and so those sell out in a few days. Uh, hello?
In addition to what’s already been posted, what frustrates me – something common to all women’s clothing – is that the sizes seem to be inconsistent: a 36D in one style is a 38C in another, etc. So every time I find a new place to buy bras from, I have to do the size trial-and-error. But I’m willing to give Lane Bryant a shot! I figure I’ll order a basic bra in a couple of different sizes and then order more of whatever size works best. Have y’all found them to be fairly consistent? Like, if there’s a Flaunt that I love in a certain size, is it likely that a Sensual Curves in the same size would fit?
Apropos to nothing: I’ve always been quite befuddled by the directions for figuring out your proper bra size, because they always start with “while wearing a supportive bra, measure…” If I had a supportive bra do you think I’d be trying to figure out my bra size??
I love this place, too. My big problem is the straps always falling down. Everything else fits but, if I tighten the straps, I feel like my boobs are sliding out the bottom and, if I loosen them, the damned things keep sliding down my arms.
