A reasonable argument. However, we may all know very well what “drive” means, but there is no such word as “thru,” so therein my lie the confusion. If it was called a “Drive Through” the implication would have been clear, you drive some sort of vehicle through it. But the use of the word “thru” could give the title various meanings. Is it a “drive” as in something you do with a golf ball or baseball? Is it like driving a post in the ground? No one can be sure of the context as there is no such word as “thru.”

Many millenia ago, when I was but a lowly drive-thru worker, there was rule against serving persons who wanted to use the drive-thru as a walk-up service. The reason for this rule was very simple. The drawer of the cash register is within a foot or two of the window. While it is very difficult for someone sitting in a car to reach in - it is decidely easy for someone standing outside the window to reach in and rob the register. Not paranoid just cautious - it was really easy to open the cash drawer, basically all you had to do was push it - which anyone who used the drive-thru (or even if they came inside) could see how the cashier opened the register. It would’ve been exceedingly easy to wait until the drive-thru person went to get the order - to reach in, open the register and get a little “change back” with your meal.
Ok, then don’t turn around and try to sue me or my insurance company when I run your ass over.
