Uncle John's Bathroom Reader

I have a factual question, but I am pretty sure this thread will get hijacked anyway.

That being said:

Is Uncle John John Javna ?

That being said, what is your take on the BRI’s tomes?

I like them.Have 20 of the books or so.

Love 'em, read 'em all, and I hope they don’t mind that I sent them a correction on one of their riddles in the latest volume.

I have about 14 of the books. I buy a couple every Christmas and they’re just wonderful to have around to read as the Big Joyous Holiday Season winds down, during the slow stretches. I Hope they keep cranking out more, but the company is starting to put out niche books - cats, national parks, and others. Do you think someday they’re just going to run out of interesting stories and just diversify into smaller books in smaller categories?

Yes.

We have about 20 plus volumes as well. We even have one autographed by Uncle John. He shows up at west coast Costcos when he publishes a new volume. And BRI often cites the Dope.

Love em! I have 24 of them and they sit right next to all 5 Straight Dope books.

I was given one as a gift and at first was kind of like, “What the hell is this…”, but I have to admit I really did enjoy it and wouldn’t mind reading the others.

Since the OP foretold of a hijacking, I’ll be the guilty party: When is the next SD book coming out? There hasn’t been one since the '90s!

Ah, it probably wouldn’t sell now, as the interwebs have all the old questions.

I have a handful of them. I like 'em but I haven’t read them in a few years.

They seemed to use his name way too much in the credits.

Also, when the cover was Javnasized, or some such, I figured Javna had more to the book than he let on. Once I realized they were both Johns, I figured I had a good grasp on the situation.

I for one love the facts at the bottom. Actually had one come up in a game of Balderdash, under the Famous People Category:

Sara Hale.

My Reader had that one Sara Josepha Hale wrote Mary Had A Little Lamb. figuring this to be a better guess than the field, I wrote it down, and got the 3 points for actually knowing the item in question.

That and 4 bucks will get me coffee.
