Uncomfortable scenes in movies by scene or actor.

The street curb scene in American History X

The rape scene from Deliverance actually made me physically ill. “Squeal like a pig…” Gah!

Amistad, watching the bodies sink to the bottom of the ocean

Askia–

A woman was raped on the castle stairs in the Mel Gibson HAMLET? When did that happen?

(Or are you thinking of Roman Polanski’s MACBETH? I remember a castle rape scene in that one)

I’m confused. Please advise.

I doubt any of you have ever seen “Chaos” as it has not really been released there have been 2 premeires, one just this tuesday at the lemmle 5 on sunset, anyway the entire first 2/3 of the movie are almost completely unwatchable due to their brutality, one scene in particular where the antagonist slices off a girls nipple, chews on it, makes her eat it and she vomits, he then proceeds to turn her over stab her in the back and fuck her dead corpse in the ass for about 4 minutes. it was kinda tough to watch. Good luck to all viewers if this ever gets distributed. the theather was far more than half empty by the time the movie was over.

The scene in Schindler’s List where The Fiennes character is plinking people in the courtyard with a scoped rifle.

I’ve always been disturbed/unsettled by shots to the head. There was a movie I saw in the 60’s with a title something like “We Will Bury You” in which (after Castro took over) Batista’s men were escorted to posts in the yard of whatever government building they’d been in. One moment this hefty guy was laughing and joking with the firing squad, next he was sagging on the ropes with his head split in two.

Another Communist China documentary had mass graves dug and people kneeling by them and soldiers whacking off their heads.

Any movie with graphic depiction of shots to the head still disturbs me. “Beverly Hills Cop” (the first one) had one.

The rape scene in The Accused with Jodie Foster.

Gah, I still have nightmares about that. Being gangraped on top of a video game while a crowd of male on-lookers chant and cheer…::shudder::

And The Watcher in the Water beat me to mentioning the street curb scene in American History X.

Yes, Askia, please do advise. I don’t remember one from Hamlet either, and I can’t think where there could have been one in the storyline. In Polanski’s Macbeth, however, I think there may have been one when the assassins are slaughtering Banquo’s household.

I have great respect for Nicole Kidman as an actress, and I feel very, very sorry for her when I see that scene in Moulin Rouge! where she has to roll around on the floor moaning while Ewan McGregor is trying to recite “Your Song”. It also reminds me of the scene in Being There that Drastic already mentioned, which is not a good thing.

In fact, that whole sequence in Moulin Rouge! gives me the cringies, especially when Nicole throws Ewan down on the bed. I hate to see anyone, male or female, in a sexual situation where they are uncomfortable. Playing it for laughs doesn’t help.

" The mother “letting go” of the mecha child in A.I. "

Seconded. I’ll never watch the film again because that scene is so distrubing.

the flashback scene in “Leaving Las Vegas” where the pimp slices Elizabeth Shue’s butt cheek.

SnugTheJoiner and shrew – Hmmm. Now you have ME confused! Up until now I was pretty sure it was HAMLET, but now you have me scratching my head.

… my brother rented a Shakespeare movie instead for a book report. I walked in on a scene where there was a woman screaming. I joked, “Damn, sounds like somebody’s getting fucked!” Right when my brother said, “That’s not funny,” cut to the the stairwell and the woman is obviously getting raped. I said, “Damn, what movie is THIS?” He said HAMLET. Or at least, up til’ now I always remembered he said HAMLET. I concede, it may have been MACBETH after all. Now, if I’m wrong this spoiler box is completely unnecessary.! But they’re fun to make.

I’m pretty sure you’re talking about the scene in Polanski’s Macbeth where Macduff’s family is slaughtered
