I had never heard of the film and it looks like it might even be one of those straight-to-video productions, but Unconditional Love was actually a goofy, fun film to rent. It stars Kathy Bates, Rupert Everett, Lynn Redgrave, Stephanie Beacham
Dan Aykroyd, Jonathan Pryce, Julie Andrews and is a bizarre tale of Kathy Bates as a housewife whose husband (Akroyd) dumps her and she goes off to a funeral of her idol, a British singer…there is a Gay subplot, a dwarf, and a murder mystery with a serial murderer who uses a crossbow. What’s not to like?
Granted, there will be no Oscar nominations for the film, and it probably could have used a bit of editing and snip about 20 minutes, but it had a nice quirky quality to it. If you don’t rent it, check it out when it hits the cable circuit.
