Unconventional ideas that worked for you.

What are some unconventional methods you’ve tried that have worked?

I personally tryout almost anything so long as there are very little consequences for trying it. I just like seeing if weird stuff works or not. So here are the weird stuff that I have found to work pretty well:

  1. Sharpening your razor with a pair of jeans. I saw this on lifehacker. You just swipe it up and down a pair of jeans after you are done shaving and the razor will last a lot longer. I’ve been using mine for two months now. I also dip it rubbing alcohol after using the jeans because the jeans are probably dirty.

  2. Shaving with conditioner. Smoothest shave ever. My skin doesn’t even feel itchy after I finish.

  3. No Shampoo. I stopped using shampoo after I saw a thread on the Dope about it. Apparently you just rinse with water and after about 6 months your body will start producing less oil on your head and your hair will look and feel better. Sooner or later I’m going to try washing my hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar to see how that goes.

Ditching aftershave for regular lotion after reading this in a SD column:

I wash my hair with dish liquid - it keeps the itchy scalp thing at bay.

Not for me but it worked for my cat. She had some nasty raw spots around her neck, turned out to be some kind of common kitty exczema, and just would.not.stop.scratching. Every time they’d start to heal she’d scratch 'em open again. I couldn’t put a “cone” on her because it would be sitting directly on the wounds. Then my neighbour gave me something he called a “false sleeve” - it’s canvas and looks like a short sweater sleeve, I guess it’s used to protect your forearms. I popped that over her head, rolled it down to her neck and presto - wounds were covered but could still heal and she couldn’t scratch them. She could eat, drink, and most importantly - cuddle. Within a couple of weeks she was all better.
