Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
That…doesn’t seem like a good thing. I want to like the show, but so much stupid…brain…shutting…down!
OP here.
Kind of embarrassing to admit, but after starting this thread, the SO and I watched the first episode and just hated it immediately. Dropped from our DVR list that night.
I have, however, enjoyed reading all of the (snarky) comments about it - so carry on!
And looks like you have at least one more season to watch all of this unfold! Lucky you!
I’m so disappointed with this series. But, depending on how bad the ending is, I’ll probably watch the next season too.
It just seems like it would work better as a miniseries with a definite ending. Not sure how they’re going to manage to keep dragging this out.
But that’s the thing. There is no ending!
At least not this year. Unless they rename the series “We Used to Be Under a Dome” for the second season.
maybe there will be a portal through the dome, that only passes nonliving through, so they will get enough food for season two.
Okay, that’s it. I’m out as of this minute – I was only hanging on to see the “better” ending that SK said the show’s producers had come up with. Since there won’t be an ending…
Yeah, that’s the first, most basic thing - they will all die if they can’t get any more food. The show really does have a natural limit on how long it can go (unless as you say, they come up with some deus ex machina to get more food to the surviving people).
Thinking about that, this show is really squandering the opportunity to make a really interesting show about how people live in such an unnatural condition that has been imposed on them. Instead they’re settling for “As The Dome Turns” - melodrama and ridiculous situations and ridiculous responses to them.
A lot of the show is filmed in Southport, NC. The radio station exterior is actually the Cape fear port pilot’s building. Big Jim’s house is on the corner of Howe and River rd.
So, they’re addressing some issues now - food, water, insulin for the 23 diabetics in town. And now, 100% more looting!
ETA: And the water issue is solved?
Don’t forget about Aunt Zelda dying. I guess the Dome negates witchcraft too.
They’re pets in a terrarium!
I like how the 15-year-old girl was able to immediately find the medical records with the names and addresses of all the diabetics in town.
Oh, and Blonde Lesbian Mom was showing symptoms of low blood sugar not high blood sugar from not taking insulin. She also wouldn’t have taken the entire bottle at once.
Again, I don’t know why I’m still watching this.
Anyone else rooting for the diabetes? One down and two more to go (to get rid of those three - daughter and two moms, the most annoying characters in the history of television).
Sam Stone don’t forget the kids running around town and saying 4 minutes before the blast ‘maybe we should get back to the shelter’ and of course how fast that last butterfly was going to reach the dome from outside the kill zone so soon. If we are gonna nitpick.
The dialogue is so bad. Clumsy and deliberate, just like the plotting. Mediocre at every turn.
We’ve had so many shows like this in the last few years* and despite their claims and intentions to not make the same mistakes they’ve all been getting worse.
*Lost, Jericho, FlashForward, The Event, Terra Nova, Persons Unknown, Revolution, etc
I loathe the big city trio.
Well, I did watch one episode, mostly out of morbid curiosity about how badly the book had been mangled.
The writers totally fail research forever, along with medicine, when it comes to diabetes, and it was SO nice of the daughter to be totally indifferent to whether other diabetics in town lived or died as long as HER mommy got the insulin.
That rainstorm is just about textbook deus ex machina.
Does Julia even know yet that she’s a widow, or was she just thinking “OK, husband’s not around and I’m hot for this guy, I’ll just make out with him in public in a storm”?
