Under The Dome: New Summer Mini-Series

So the farmer was going to control the town by taking the propane tanks?

Oh my dear god. Maybe I should start watching again.

Ollie Dinsmore was going to control the town by having a water source (wells), a food source (his crops) AND the propane stores that he “stole” from Big Jim. Nice thinking, Ollie.

I have to give credit where credit is due - they are doing a fair job of developing Big Jim’s character as someone who can be nice when he thinks it will benefit him, with a deeper layer of pure evil that isn’t very far under the surface.

And, we need to develop an “Under The Dome” bingo card.

it’s a bit like a cartoon.

The Simpsons had a dome.

also cartoon characters often are a representation. Groundskeeper Willie is custodial labor. Kent Brockman is the media.

after the store was looted Ollie represents food and water. it doesn’t matter what crops he has (did anyone ever eat that half a cow?) or when the crops are ready. in a Mad Max world people would just pillage his fields the same way they pillaged the Kwik-E-Mart.

junior is a total violent nutcase by the way.

I’m starting to think Junior is a total violent nutcase.

Did anyone think there was an “evil baby” shot when Mom1 was dying? Between that and the egg, my eyeballs practically rolled out of my head during this episode. I’m ashamed to be watching this still.

So I started watching this episode, and was pleasantly surprised by the not-particularly-insulting storytelling where they just dropped me in the middle of some action and let me deduce what was going on… almost like they respected my intelligence.

Then I realized my DVR had hiccuped and I had missed the first 20 minutes.

I’m betting that the recent dead people all come back alive one way or another. Zombies are popular right now.

That’s exactly what I thought was about to happen.

Well they can come back as dome holograms, clearly.

Sure, why not? Zombies all around!

One thing I did like amid the silliness:

Junior: I need to talk to Angie, so you can beat it.
Guy: No. No, I don’t think I will.

I am actually looking forward to the next episode just to make fun of it.

I think they planned it that way all along.

I can’t deny that I am having fun in this thread.

Ollie has ammonia nitrate and blasting caps for planting season.

I remember growing up in a small MN farming town - every spring, the sound of explosions as the farmers blew up their fields in preparation for putting in their crops.

I know I always blow up my backyard in preparation for putting my garden in.

“Dammit, Barbie!” Best. Line. Ever!

It’s saved the show for me.

This show makes The A-Team look like an interesting and compelling drama.

people have empty cereal boxes in the kitchen.

now that the well has been blown up the other wells instantly have water; must be like plumbing. now the people can plant real fast growing crops to have something to eat in a few days.

did anyone ever eat that half a cow?

junior is a total violent nutcase by the way.

There wasn’t even the sound of a few crumbs in that box.

As if the township would have allowed Ollie to divert water to his well in the first place.

I loved how he immediately believed Ollie’s story. If Ollie knew Junior’s mom’s death was a suicide, so did everyone else in town. That witness Big Jim paid off had a big mouth.

I chuckled at Big Jim going for eminent domain, a legal remedy. He even had a booklet to explain it.

This episode wasn’t as stupid as some of the others, but it was still pretty dumb. We need to see more people in the background, going in and out of abandoned houses, searching for food. There’s no atmosphere at all, with the focus on just those few characters.
