Under The Dome: New Summer Mini-Series

That makes about as much sense as Ollie being the only one in small rural farming community who has a well instead of being hooked up to mains water.

“Everyone’s running low on food” - and yet they’re putting perfectly good meat in the ground! (I’m watching the first half on dvr today since I forgot to tune in on time yesterday.) This town has a seriously high body count - they should be putting all those bodies in refrigeration…

Like network is really going to air cannibalism outside of sweeps week.

Ah, good point.

A ha ha! These people are too stupid to live. Julia went hiking out to show Barbie the egg…in high heels.

And by "these people’ I mean the people responsible for making this show.

And this only in the first minute. Let’s see what happens in the rest of the hour.

Is that the late Mrs Big Jim?

Never mind.

No, that’s a character we never saw before who was ‘hiding’ since the dome landed. Ya know, hiding over at the Special Guest Star Hotel. Since there’s a second season planned, there are probably a lot more like her in residence there.

WTF with those paintings? Was crazy guy’s mother 9 years-old?

Junior is a good guy! Big Jim is a good guy! Barbie is a bad guy! All these twists are making me dizzy.

But the cows in this town have no bones or organs, so they get an insane amount of meat from each cow.

That was a filler episode if ever I saw one.

At least the kid had the sense to point out his sister’s butterfly tatt isn’t a monarch.

So Big Jim goes on the radio and tells everyone to turn in their guns. And they do.

That’s about as realistic as the cut-in-half cow.

Next he’ll go on the radio and ask people to commit suicide so that the resources will last longer for everyone else.

One thing this show has consistently gotten wrong is how people would react to a situation. I can suspend belief for extraordinary events like a dome covering the town, but I expect people to act like people.

I’ve been catching up on some “Twilight Zone” episodes and and it’s amazing how well they were written. No matter what the situation, the way the people reacted was pretty believable.

One of the movie channels (Encore? Starz?) is currently showing the King miniseries “Storm of the Century”. That’s so much better. A blizzard traps a town and the people actually react appropriately to the crisis. But with UtD, it’s like the writers are trying to make the people act as stupidly as possible.

Yeah, it’s pretty stunning how a show that has such good production values, and is based on a show that gets so many details plausibly right, gets nearly every single detail about everything wrong.

I couldn’t believe that, either. He was offering food and propane for guns, so I guess some people are pretty desperate for both or either now.

Watching this show is in danger of becoming a chore.

There is nothing redeeming about this show. We watch it at my house strictly to make fun of it.

It’s crazy how incompetent the networks seem to be with writing and developing characters. It almost seems like watching a kids show after watching an episode of Breaking Bad or anything on HBO.

I must be on purpose? They are just putting this crap out for the lowest common denominator or something? They can’t be this incompetent.

Every character is completely one dimensional, at least the few who actually have personalities. Everyone’s hair is always perfect.

Then you’ve got Junior, who is a total violent nutcase.

based on a book*

Yeah, so who is she? The drug-lord or something? And what was the fan-wank-worthy explanation she gave as to where she was?

I’m waiting for Nikki and Paulo(LOST) to show up. This is the dumbest show in years.

I no longer care (if I ever did) about any of the characters. I’m now only watching to find out where the dome came from. Hopefully episode 13 is the finale because I’m not watching another season.

Bob

Welcome to the thread. It’s renewed for season 2.

Sorry I have ruined your day.

So, people are giving up their hoarded goods for an opportunity to bet on fights?

Hopefully, Big Jim will now shoot the Godmother, since she’s lost her leverage (and her mom) - and remove one of the weakest plot lines in a show that is made up exclusively of weak plot lines.

Although the sheriff investigating a drug trafficking ring while society breaks down around her is a close second (although everything is a close second).

Help me out here. Wasn’t there a whole episode about how there was only one well for water and how without that water they’d all die?

And now there’s a gigantic lake with islands under the dome? Did I miss that this is a saltwater lake?
