Under The Dome: New Summer Mini-Series

Not at the rate Big Jim is shooting them.

Did Barbie pick up Big Jim’s gun or draw his own? I know that stupid is the main plot driver here, but I’d think even the small town cop could tell that Barbie’s gun hadn’t been fired and Jim’s had. And she knows Jim is tied up in drugs, so why is she willing to believe everything he tells her?

And where the hell is Barbie running to? And why would he have shot Julia and then taken her to the hospital?

Bear in mind, despite what Sheriff Non-Jo knows about Big Jim, he is still the authority she is used to following and has for most of her life as a townie. Now that authority is being put up against the word of an outsider. An outsider who is also shady and has done some very bad things to people she knows and during a time when she is being forced to deal with things that are way outside of her understanding and as her world falls apart.

It is not surprising that she would revert to habit rather than rational thnking in this situation. It may be one of the few emotional reactions that the writers got right.

So I totally spaced that yesterday was a Monday (it felt like Sunday) and missed the episode. Sounds like I may have actually missed some excitement? :dubious::frowning:

Depends on how you define “excitement”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Max’s Mom washed up on the beach and Max found her.

Max shot Shumway. Barbie and the kid whose name I forgot take her to the hospital and barely save her life.

Angie and Junior have an argument and he runs off.

Barbie and Big Jim go after Max. She captures them, but then they get the drop on her. Barbie insists on taking her alive, but as soon as his back is turned Jim shoots both her and her bodyguard dead. He tries to shoot Barbie but he’s too fast and runs off. Jim convinces the deputy woman that Barbie shot Shumway, Max, the bodyguard, and killed Max’s mom.

The Dome gets angry cuz Junior left, and starts creating a weird storm. Angie convinces Junior to come back, and they all go to the edge of the (real) dome and put their hands on it. They all see a vision of Big Jim with bleeding holes in him, and they’re all holding illusionary bloody knives. From this they take that the Dome wants them to kill Jim. Junior runs off again.

I think that’s about it.

Can a councilman declare a state of emergency? And where is the rest of the council? And what happened to forehead girls other mom? And why don’t we ever see anyone outside the dome? Is nothing being done to help these people?

They did pick up a radio broadcast that seemed to come from outside the dome during the episode.

I did, too. I think it has been taped on my DVR, though. I’ll have to watch it today.

There’s only one possible explanation: there’s another, bigger dome on top of the one the town is under. It’s turtles all the way up. Although before the second (or should we say ‘the third’) dome materialized, people on the outside of the (second) dome were able to approach it and communicate with people inside it using their tablets, legal pads, pidgin sign language, or anything else they could muster up. But the (second) dome has already been demonstrated to be pervious to water and electromagnetic radiation. Why didn’t they just use their cell phones to talk to each other?

So, everyone traded their guns and ammo to get food and propane, so they could trade it to beat the crap out of each other for different food and propane? Good lord, it’s only been 9 days! Don’t these people have books? I’d hate to see what happens when the people of Chester’s Mill go camping.

If everybody is willing to go along with it he can.

They’re outside the dome, the reason why was said int eh first episodes but I don’t care to remember why. They were probably brunching at Denny’s with the kids’ mom.

She only signed a half contract and already used up four of her episodes. So she’ll have to mourn in a closed room until the last two episodes force her out for the big finale.

Because the military is, for some reason, keeping them away. The military is doing this because extras aren’t free.

No, not until the writers have at least a half season warning that the show will be ending.

Hah! My guess is, they start shooting each other and setting up Mad Max-style Thunderdomes. God knows, you wouldn’t just want to do a little fishing or something.

Well, I’ve watched it now - sheesh. Now Barbie’s the highly-improbable bad guy. Okay.

He can when the rest of the local government is out of town and there’s no communication with the outside world. In the novel they did have communication with the outside world and Barbie was placed in charge of Chester’s Mill by the military after martial law was declared. Angry Black Lesbian was in the preview for next week’s episode. And no nothing is being done to help these people; we haven’t seen anyone outside the dome since Visitors’ Day.

I was surprised they killed off Mad Max so quickly. But yay! That whole fight club thing was beyond stupid in a story full of stupid. And it made the guest appearance of Mare Winningham even more pointless than it appeared to be at the time.

I’m just watching to see what the kids find out. I know what happens in the book but will probably be very disappointed with how it plays out here.

I can’t believe they’ve killed off both Mare Winningham and Samantha Mathis. Why am I watching this piece of crud again?

So Junior and Big Jim oscillate between estranged and loving parent and child. Junior goes from wanting to kill the old man to refusing to take part in the killing that the dome wants. Since apparently the dome has the power of Elmer Fudd’s spear and magic helmet, let it blow Big Jim to the other three teens and let them tenderize the bastard.

In a cast full of unbelievable characters, Max stands out as the least believeable. She looked like she was handed the script five minutes before shooting and they did all her shots in one take. Thank goodness her role was short.

Best thing about this ep by far is evil mom washed up on shore and she really is still dead! Then her evil daughter got offed too!

Why is there only one person working in the entire hospital?

I love how the kids jump to the wildest conclusions based on nothing. The dome says Junior and whatserface have to make up and be friends! Barbie is a cool guy so he’s the monarch! The dome says we have to kill Big Jim!

Well, killing BJ is a good idea.

I was hoping they’d keep her around so that they could call the second season “Mad Max Beyond UnderDome.”

Groan.

Well at this pace Big Jim will have executed the entire town by the time we get to the end of the second season.

If we’d only had 3 episodes so far… the pilot, then 11 episodes of silliness compressed into one episode, then this most recent episode, and next week was the season finale… well, then the show would just be mediocre with interesting bits, rather than being terrible with interesting bits.

I mean, at least things are happening.
