Underworld: Good, Bad, or Ugly?

So will this be sucky flick or some real competition to the Matrix: Reloaded (yes, I know the release times are not exactly consanguinus)?

Vampire flicks, after all, are one of the things Hollywood has a decent track record on, since they transfer onto the silver screen better than werewolves (which really are one-trick doggies). The star Vampire looks appropriately dark, yet appealing, and the flick looks to combine Matrix action with classic sexy vampires, which seems like a match made in heaven (Blade).

Here’s hoping!

Well, I’m not expecting an Academy Award contender or anything. And I am getting very tired of the whole Leather & Trenchcoats and Rain thing. But other than that I’m pretty enthusiastic about the movie. It looks like good “action-horror” fun, definitely worth the price of a matinee.

Who would have thought that a random episode of The Real Ghostbusters would inspire a complete set of best-selling role-playing games and a major studio release. What a country!

Sorry, I don’t get that reference.

There’s an episode of The Real Ghostbusters where they end up in a town where half the town is vampires and the other half is werewolves. They end up just leaving the town and letting them fight an unending battle, because in their mythos, vampires bitten by werewolves immediately turn into werewolves and vice versa, thus the fight would go on forever. Interesting episode, but I thought their vampires looked dumb.

As for this movie, I’m a little excited about it. It looks like it could be a lot of fun and interesting, but the scene of three werewolves coming down the hallway, two on the walls, one on the ceiling just kinda confuses me. When did werewolves gain spider-abilities? Still, I used to play Vampire: the Masquerade, and Vamps vs. Werewolves is always a great fun time. Should be interesting, especially with a flask of whiskey.

And I don’t know much about Hollywood’s track record with Vampire movies, but I wouldn’t say it’s THAT good. I mean, for every good one, there are about 100 terrible movies that never see the light of day.

I was prepared to discuss both the band and the book. But I’m at a loss on the movie.

Oh! I get it. LOL I saw that episode a long time ago.

I’m looking forward to seeing Kate Beckinsale all hottied up, but other than that my expectations are low. The advance screening reports have been somewhat mediocre. Go to aintitcool.com and search for “underworld” (lefthand frame, about halfway down) for more information.
