Undoing Formatting on Digital Cameras?

Apologies if this question is in the wrong place but Im just wondering can photots that were stored on a digital cameras memory card be restored once the card has been formatted?

I was in Paris for the last few days, took plenty photos, but when trying to do something else I formatted the card.

Depends on the digital camera, but I believe somebody makes recovery software for Flash cards.

You will most likely need card reader hardware for your PC(can be bought for under $40 nowadays).
