Unemployed AGAIN

I have lost a job every year ever since 2007. Fuck!!! Ironically, 2007 was when I received my MBA.

This latest lay-off is beyond bullshit. I was hired in July 2009 after 5 months of being unemployed. I was trained haphazardly by co-workers. One of the duties I was trained to perform, which I was told was “No big deal and just keep up with it every couple of months.”, cost me my job. I do admit that it is a big mistake now that I have been told in no uncertain terms what is important and what is not. How big a mistake? Costing the company a million dollars. Yeah, fire my ass - I understand. But fuck you and your non-existent training/ new hire onboarding. How could I be told in my first couple of months that the task wasn’t important and then be fired for believing what I was told? Also fuck you to how you rushed me through packing up my stuff without a chance to say goodbye to anyone. I better be able to collect unemployment, douche nozzles!

I am so fucked…

Generally, you can’t collect unemployment if you’re fired for cause, such as not performing a duty that you’re required to perform.

How could a maid job cost a company millions?

If you were terminated for cause I think you’ll be SOL on unemployment benefits.

ETA: Already addressed.

What was your relationship with your supervisor like? I can’t understand how in the 7 months you were there, no one ever checked in on your progress on whatever that task was. I’ve never been at a job where I got trained in and then no one ever spoke to be about my responsibilities again.

You cost the company a million dollars after working there for a few months?

What the hell were you doing, putting deposit bags into the shredder?

Wait wait wait.

I’m not supposed to do this??? Need answer fast!!

Well, you’ll ruin the shredder.

What was it that cost the company 1m?

How could your supervisor or boss have not noticed whatever it was for seven months?

I don’t know why the company bought a million dollar shredder in the first place.

When you have a million dollars you need to shred, there’s really no better way to do it than with a million dollar shredder.

Not filing legal documents on time can do this. Sorry you missed the deadline. Too bad so sad. Pepsi default judgment.

That said it sucks when a company doesn’t properly teach you what your duties are. A few stories like yours see a posting here.

Good thing reason prevailed

I’m guessing it’s Errors and Omissions of some type or another, but maybe it really is the shredder thing.

I know it was an example of how to lose big. Even if the judgment gets changed it cost them big money to get it changed.

You’ve obviously never worked for the government.

I really hope I’m not fired for cause! That is a gray area since I didn’t know it was a required duty until shit hit the fan. To clarify the whole costing millions thing, this duty held up claims being processed in a timely manner so money meet drain. Well, at least I have a new question to ask in job interviews now! “Do you provide any training or onboarding for new hires?” Today is my numb, feeling bewildered day. Tomorrow I will come back with a lot more profanity.

Well, you’re not in a right-to-work state, so that helps a bit.

Beat to it… twice!

Wouldn’t that make this your “latest firing,” not your “latest lay-off”?
