Uninsurable professions -Canada

Can anyone help me out with this? My brother is a ‘tire man’ he changes truck tires on the road…he has heard this is uninsurable due to the high ratio of deaths in this feild.

I can find no information to this effect on the net, although I know it is out there.

Anyone know where we can find a list of uninsurable professions?

Thanks,
kellibelli

I think it’s going to vary from one insurance company to the next and from one type of insurance to the next. I worked for an HMO up until about three weeks ago, and we didn’t have a list of “uninsurable professions.” We had some types of businesses to whom we were barred from selling health insurance policies because of regulations, and others where we would not assume the risk because of the danger inherent in the profession (we would not insure munitions workers, for example). Life insurance may be a different matter. The insurance company may be able to design a policy which does not trigger a payout if the death is work-related. I’d suggest contacting insurance companies directly as well as whatever regulatory agencies deal with insurance in your province.
