Charlottesville is “open carry”, so not suggesting there’s anything illegal about packing heat for a public demonstration. Just somewhat unwise. Rather.

Even now, the echo chambers do not see Nazis at Charlottesville; they see patriots fighting Communism. The whole gig depends on repeated confrontation and victimhood. So, yeah, both sides arm themselves, and the right sees one side as "certain individuals having nothing to do with our beliefs and goals” and on the other side the “violent, totalitarian Left.”
